Stay Positive and Live Long :) …!!

When the reality hits you like a wrecking ball, the only person who lights the lamp of hope is a nurse… When the situation comes where you finally have to start counting the days left to see the world, when you don’t want to kneel down and surrender in front of a mere cancer cell, when you start to feel like you don’t wanna see faces of your loved ones anymore, who brings back memories of all the good times you had, the only person who can make your heart calm down will be that one nurse.

Like chemo and radiation therapy, palliative care is also one important part of cancer treatment. It’s a surprising but a proven fact that a healthy mind can help in healing the body or recovering from a disease. Meditation and yoga would be an essential part of it, but all that matters is cofidence. It is obvious that a disease or a condition like cancer is always accompanied by depression. Conditions where you start losing hope or in a word let’s say depression has a direct relation with healing capacity. It’s just like a fooling the brain or making it believe that disease can’t be cured; this happens due to the reduction in the release of certain neurotransmitters like serotonin or dopamine etc. Thus need for recovering from depression gets prioritized before recovery from cancer. Depression can also be considered as one of the side effects of chemo or radiation therapy. When side effects such as anemia/low red blood cell counts, diarrhea, fatigue, fertility issues, hair changes, infection, etc. lower the strength of a person, both mentally and physically, palliative care and rehabilitation become an inevitable part in the journey of the fight against cancer.
